SPDC believes in the enduring need for strong social policy to fight poverty and corruption, ensure social and economic security and achieve social justice. SPDC promotes social policy that enables the building of secure, just, free and harmonious societies offering opportunities and higher standards of living for all.
SPDC seeks to inform and
influence public opinion and to foster public discussion on social policy and
development issues. SPDC's work covers a broad range of social policy and development
areas including poverty reduction, tackling corruption, strengthening of non-profit
sector, security building, as well as health, education, social and employment
issues.
We seek a balance between short-term and long-term studies, international, national
and local issues. SPDC monitors national social policies and assesses its implications
at the international, national and local levels.
SPDC coordinates and brings together actors from diverse stakeholder groups, including governmental agencies, IGOs, NGOs and private businesses, policy makers and opinion influencers, academics, researchers, specialists, grassroots stakeholders, activists and other interested parties. SPDC provides the space for different actors to meet and work together and facilitates the creation and management of the processes to enable individuals and organisations to engage and interact in new and productive ways.
