In the framework
of the program Armenia expect to get USD175 m, USD 118 m of which allocated
for irrigation systems, and USD 57 m - for renovation of community roads. Armenian
Government claims that as a result of the program the poverty in Armenia will
be reduced on 5%.
In the beginning of July Republic of Cape Verde signed five-year Compact with
MCC in excess of $110 million to support the country's goal of poverty reduction
and economic growth. The Compact will help transform Cape Verde by making sizeable
investments in water resources, agricultural productivity, major port and road
improvements, and initiatives to promote the private sector, including investment
climate and financial sector reforms. Cape Verde became third country after
Honduras and Madagascar with which compact was signed. Besides, MCC approved
the Program with Burkina Faso, which will be focused on improving girls' primary
education completion rates ($12.9 m). According to Georgian media, this country
seeks MCC support in rehabilitation of gaz pipelines ($200 m). For more information
